Lopes’ passion for the game is evident in how he takes to the field every inning, sprinting out to his spot behind home plate, often before the opposing team’s players have even reached the dugout. Men's basketball rallies past cross-Common rival

A slow start and failure to convert put the Emerson men’s basketball team down early against the visiting Rams. The Lions took to the court in the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym on edge, missing three of their first four shots from beyond the arc in the first half and prompting head coach Jim O’Brien to call for his team to settle down. An offensive breakthrough in the second half, however, allowed the Lions to take the lead and secure a 74-64 victory.

Senior leads by example during breakout season

In his final season with Emerson’s men’s basketball team, Firn has taken responsibility and become the team’s most prolific scorer. The senior forward has had a breakthrough year, with 257 points in 18 games. For the past three years, he averaged fewer than 10 points per game under former head coach Hank Smith and was third on the team in scoring last season. This year, he is averaging 14.4 points per game.
