While there will be no excessive beard growing or magical playoff runs this fall for the Boston Red Sox, there is now an opportunity in the twilight of the 2014 season to attend a game at Fenway Park for just $9.
This offer, valid for anyone with a college or high school ID, is only for standing room tickets, and is available for the final six Red Sox home games, from Sept 23 - 28.
According to Adam Grossman, senior vice president of marketing for the team, this promotion is unrelated to the Red Sox’ unsuccessful season. He said the goal is to bring newer generations of fans to Fenway.
“It’s important for us to get young people coming to the games,” said Grossman, “Making sure Fenway is accessible for students is something we think about every year.”
This offer will not be restricted to this September, Grossman added. The $9 ticket will be available next season in April and May, when school in Boston and the surrounding area is in session.
“That’s a really great idea,” said senior journalism major Zach Dean, also a four year member of the baseball team. “Hearing that you can go to a Red Sox game for $9 sort of dampens the pain of a pretty bad year.”
