The Lady Lions’ soccer team won their first game of the 2014 season on Sept. 9 in an impressive fashion, outscoring Mount Ida by a tally of 9-0.
Here are some facts worth mentioning from the lopsided win:
Tayllar Righini, the leading scorer from last season, did not score at all, while juniors Mollie Coyne and Alyssa Giannone and freshman Gabi Galvin scored two goals each.
The nine goal margin was the largest in a victory since a 10-0 victory against Anna Maria in 2011.
The Lions scored six of their nine goals in the first half, recording 13 shots on goal and converting an alarming 46 percent of them.
It was a slow day in goal for keeper Melanie Escobar, who saved only three shots the entire game.
Galvin’s two second half goals were her first and second collegiate goals.
The Lady Lions look to build momentum on their first win in another non-conference tilt against University of Maine Farmington on Sept 13.
