Students can get fresh bagels and cold smoothies between classes at Emerson’s Cafe, which now features selections from national franchise Einstein Bros Bagels.
The street-front cafe now features an upgraded menu offering fresh bagels throughout the day, a broader drink program with smoothies and espresso drinks, and seasonal food items like pumpkin muffins and bagels for fall, according to Steven Canario, the general manager of dining and catering services at Emerson.
Canario—who came to the college last year with the arrival of Sodexo, the college’s food provider—said he started a conversation with Business Services Director Karen Dickinson this spring about freshening up the campus eatery. Construction started July 8.
“We were trying to figure out what we could do to give the cafe space some identity,” Canario said, adding they “gave it a facelift” with some cosmetic changes. “The walls are brighter, and the counters and equipment are all new.”
Emerson’s Cafe, also known as “EmCaf,” still accepts EC Cash and Board Bucks and maintains the same staff members as before the change.
