See, be seen, speak up

Members of Speak Up, a group dedicated to promoting racial awareness at Emerson, took to Boylston Street on April 7 in a series of flash mobs.

The demonstrations, organized by junior radio major Khellie Braxton, featured signs asking passers-by if they attached a stereotype to each demonstrator at first glance.

"Most people really took notice," said Braxton. "People would start to read the signs aloud and stop at the slurs... I heard a lot of people just say 'No.'"
