Supporters of newly minted President-elect Barack Obama flowed from their homes late on election night into Boston's streets. The spontaneous rally drew hundreds of revelers from area colleges, including a large contingent of Emerson students.
Spotted amid the crowd were no less than three cardboard cut-outs, which were periodically hoisted above the human canopy.
A saxophone player and a slew of drummers led a jazz funeral-style march from Copley Square to The Christian Science Center, down Massachusetts Avenue and up Newbury Street.
Cigarette and marijuana smoke wafted through the crowd as the group earned cheers and honks from passing motorists, even provoking some to exit their vehicles to dance and pump fists with members of the crowd.
