Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan; available March 6
"Very nice. How much?" No, he's not talking about antique furniture, Corvettes or jewelry. Borat is talking about women ... and making "sexy time." Sacha Baron Cohen is crude, offensive, outrageous and, most of all, hilarious. Whether this movie is politically relevant or just damn funny, one thing is certain: Borat is thoroughly entertaining and extremely successful. Just look at the nominations: a Golden Globe for Best Musical or Comedy and an Oscar for Best Writing. Plus, Cohen trumped the likes of Will Ferrell, Johnny Depp and Aaron Eckhart, winning a Golden Globe for Best Actor. High five!
Confetti; available March 6
Three weddings and one big prize: a million-dollar dream home. But when the prize goes to the "most original wedding," things are bound to get sticky. The first couple desires a Hollywood musicals theme, but is completely tuneless; second come highly competitive tennis partners looking for the theme that encompasses their lives; and third come the nudists. The movie, starring Martin Freeman of the BBC's "The Office," parallels a reality show and relies mostly on improvisation. It is also comparable to "The Office," with its dialogue and awkward circumstances, and the film brings that British dry humor we've come to know, love and appreciate.
