Lions defeat Norwich

Issue date: 2/15/07 Section: Sports
The Lions earned a bit of retribution Saturday when they defeated Norwich University, 76-65. Norwich had defeated Emerson in the GNAC men's basketball final last year, denying the Lions the GNAC Championship and a place in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The Lions' road victory was made sweeter by the fact that the team played without its two leading scorers, freshman center Bryan Rouse and junior guard and co-captain Will Dawkins. Dawkins was not able to play because of a sprained ankle.
Senior guard Alfredo Tovar led the way with 18 points while junior guard Will Sagar chipped in a season-high 16 points and nine rebounds.
The Lions won despite shooting just 37 percent from the field, while Norwich shot 50 percent. The difference in the game was determined by turnovers, with Norwich coughing up the ball 22 times in contrast to just nine for the Lions.
The win gave the Lions a two-game edge over Norwich in the GNAC standings, and their win over Suffolk University on Tuesday ensured them of a second place finish,
