As the Lions women's basketball team heads into the playoffs, the squad will be without one of its veteran players. Junior Alie Bernier is no longer part of the team, but she's not saying why.
"Alie had a lot going on and she couldn't make the commitment that everyone else did to the team," Coach Melissa Hart said. "We had to be more of a priority and it couldn't be that way with what she was doing now."
Bernier, a regular her first two seasons at Emerson, saw reduced playing time this year, averaging 4.3 points and 18 minutes while starting one out of 14 games. Bernier declined to comment on the situation.
"It's a shame," Hart said. "I hate to see anyone leave the team, especially someone who played for me for two years. But it happens."
