The student had just finished reading a Berkeley Beacon article entitled "Emerson student scammed out of $500" and promptly reported the man to Emerson Police, who made the arrest.
Emerson Police Chief William McCabe said officers accompanied the student as he pointed out the alleged diabetic, who was still standing outside of the Little Building.
The man fit the description of a possible suspect from a phony check con that victimized an Emerson and a Boston University student two months ago, McCabe said.
The description of the suspect came from a photo lineup created by both the Emerson and Boston Police Departments as well as the victim of the Oct. 28 scam.
Upon questioning, McCabe said the suspect identified himself as Isaiah Parker, but after being fingerprinted he was identified by the Boston Police Department (BPD) as 41-year-old David Williams,
According to Emerson Police, Williams has been positively identified as the same man who ripped off an Emerson student for $500 on Oct. 28.
A Boston Police query check revealed Williams had several warrants from Roxbury, Dorchester and Brighton District Courts.
BPD issued four warrants for Williams' arrest.
According to Emerson Police reports, Williams was wanted by BPD for using phony checks, breaking-and-entering with intent to commit a felony, malicious destruction of property and larceny by check.
Several local colleges including Harvard University, Boston College and Boston University had also arrested Williams.
According to Emerson Police, Boston University had a warrant for Williams' arrest for two counts of larceny.
